If you’ve stumbled upon this blog post, you know that issues with weight and/or obesity can be difficult to manage. They’re also pretty hard to talk about, which makes addressing this topic a lot more challenging.
However, it’s important to know that your weight matters for your health, and that’s why we’re asking YOU to help support National Obesity Care Week — taking place Oct. 29 – Nov. 4, 2017!
What is National Obesity Care Week?
National Obesity Care Week (NOCW) is a National Awareness Campaign intended to change the way we care about weight management and the disease of obesity.
As you likely know, individuals who struggle with their weight often face barriers when trying to improve their health, including:
- Weight bias, stigma and discrimination
- Ineffective doctor/patient communication
- Trouble navigating treatment options
- Access to healthcare
… and more! The goal of NOCW2017 is to raise awareness about all of the things which make weight/obesity care so challenging. The subject of weight can feel taboo to talk about or address in many different areas of your life, and NOCW2017 aims to change that.
