Resolution Checklist: A Glimpse Back at Your Goals

Checklist Maximizing Exercise

The first couple of months of the New Year are now long gone, and we’re slowly sliding into the warm (or warm-er) Spring months of 2017. However, where does that leave YOU with your health, weight and overall wellness goals?

When many of us set out to make New Year’s resolutions, we do so with positive intentions. But sometimes that’s all they turn out to be – intentions. This is why now is the perfect time to ask yourself, “What progress have I made so far this year? What areas can I continue to improve upon?”

Use this Checklist to Assess Your Progress So Far this Year

As March begins, let this be an opportunity for you to revisit your goals for weight and health while refocusing your strategic plan. You might say it’s time for a little “Spring Cleaning” to improve your physical, mental and overall well-being!

  • check markHave I Organized My Goal Plan? – The sweetest achievements come from hard work and a definitive plan to get there. Think about the tools you use (or want to use) to help you out — a food journal, workout calendar, calorie and exercise tracker, pedometer, etc. Are those organizational methods helping you? Should you adjust them or find new ways to stay on track? Get down and dirty with your strategic plan to discover new ways you can improve.
  • check markWhere am I at with Burnout? –  This can be one of the biggest barriers to continued success. If you’re feeling the sting of burnout, it may be time to find new motivations and sources of information to keep you moving in the right direction. Don’t know where to start? Consider our latest Workout Music Playlist or compilation of inspirational quotes.
  • check markAm I Taking Care of My Body? – Yes, this does include getting your recommended amount of physical activity each day/week and eating the appropriate amounts/types of food. But it also includes getting enough sleep, managing stress and treating your body with overall respect and care.
  • check markWhat’s Holding Me Back? – No matter where you’re at on this weight and health journey, there are always going to be things that threaten to derail your progress. Is it late night cravings? After-work exhaustion? The key is to identify those barriers and then act upon theme.
  • check markAm I Actively Monitoring My Health? – Being a positive influence on your health requires more than just eating the right foods and exercising frequently. You should be paying attention to the way you feel, taking note of any changes to your body and visiting your doctor for routine health exams.

This year, don’t let your New Year resolutions be something that live on and prosper for only a few months. By assessing your goals and progress regularly, you will set your self up for long-term success you can be proud of.
