The topic of weight, and obesity specifically, can be hard to talk about. Stigma heavily surrounds obesity and makes it difficult to care for with respectful, science-based treatment. Still, the reality is that more than 93 million American in the U.S. are affected by obesity and more than 33 percent are affected by excess weight! It is obvious now more than ever that perceptions need to change.
About National Obesity Care Week
If you care about changing the perception of excess weight and obesity, please support the efforts of National Obesity Care Week (NOCW) 2018 — taking place October 7th – 13th! The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC), Producer of the Your Weight Matters Campaign, is proud to be a Founding Champion of NOCW and invites anyone who cares about weight-related issues to participate.
NOCW challenges all of us to Change the Way We Care about obesity by advancing a science and clinically-based understanding of the disease as well as widespread access to respectful, comprehensive and appropriate care. The Campaign encourages all of us to join — whether we struggle with weight ourselves or care for/about someone else who struggles.
