Before beginning your workout, how often do you take the time to stop and really think about the exercise you’re about to do?
Much to our dismay, exercise isn’t as easy as “1, 2, 3.” Many factors go into your ability to move with success, challenge your body, build muscle and burn calories. That’s why it’s always a good idea to have a mental or physical exercise checklist handy before all workouts — so you can maximize your movement!
Consider these Overlooked Tips for Improving Your Workout
- Wear the Right Apparel – Clothing affects your performance in many ways – including your movement, safety and comfort level. High quality shoes and apparel can help you feel the best AND achieve the best!
- Drink Water – Exercise can quickly dehydrate you as you’re moving and sweating, so always be sure to have water on hand.
- Stretch/Warm up – You wouldn’t want to overdo it! Stretching and warm-ups prepare your body for exercise, set the pace and keep you safe from injury.
- Focus on a Specific Goal – Rather than jumping between different forms of exercise, focus on one thing at a time. This will help you keep your goals in clear view as you pour energy into achieving them.
- Challenge Yourself – You become better by progressing — and that always poses a “challenge!” Challenging yourself can help you reap rewards you never thought possible.
- Rest & Recover – Similar to stretching and warming up, rest will help your body exit its exercise mode at the appropriate times and keep you safe from physically hurting it.
Don’t go into exercise blindly — put thought into your workouts! There are numerous ways you can maximize your workouts and reap exciting rewards if you take the time to think about exercise beforehand.
