Spice Up Your Fitness Routine

For many, exercise can be described as a chore or a dreaded responsibility that has to be completed. When we begin to adapt this kind of mindset, however, exercise becomes more than just a hassle – it becomes a challenge, too!

If this sounds like you, you may be in need of some healthy change. By switching up your workout routine and adding spice to it, you’re more likely to have fun during exercise and stay motivated! There are a variety of ways that you can do this, so put some spark back into your routine with the below suggestions!

How Can I Refresh My Workout Routine?

  • Make Exercise a Social Experience – Working out with others can add some zest to your routine. Try asking your friends, your family or even a personal trainer to accompany you! Having others to work out alongside of can help you stay motivated, enjoy your exercise and challenge yourself.
  • Do at Least One Different Thing – If you’d like to keep your general routine because it’s working for you, but you’re still looking to spice things up, consider doing at least one new thing each workout. For example, near the end of a run or jog, you might pick up the pace or change the length of your stride. If you’re focusing on strength training, perhaps you might try using a different weight or machine.
  • Participate in an Activity – Taking part in a sport ( group or individual) is an excellent way to enjoy your workout. You might also consider activities such as hiking, swimming or other outdoor activities that can liven up your exercise.
  • Find a New Setting – A change of scenery might be a great way to reinvigorate your senses and keep things fresh. If you walk or run outside during your workouts, try changing your route. If you exercise in your own home, consider going to a gym or class where you will find new things/people to inspire you.

  • Set a New Goal – Having something new and challenging to work towards can help you maintain focus and stay motivated. For example, you can try training for an event or race, striving to reach a certain mileage or learning how to master a new kind of exercise.
