Make SMART Goals for Your Health!

Meet your goals!

When setting any new goal, it’s important to make sure your goal is something you’ll stick with and that you can actually achieve. It’s easy to get discouraged if you set unattainable goals for yourself, and if you’re finding yourself lost as to how to create new goals, it’s time for the SMART approach!

SMART is an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-sensitive, and is an approach that can be applied to any goal you may have. SMART was first introduced in the early 1980’s to help business leaders set goals and objectives that were easily understood and achievable by their respective organizations. Throughout the years, it has been widely adapted to many other areas of life — include wellness and overall health goals!

“A SMART resolution is not a basic statement or wish; it is a clearly drawn pathway to success,” said Marie A. Spano, MS, RD, CSCS, CSSD, in an article from Your Weight Matters Magazine. “It is a way to state not just what you want to accomplish but what you will do to accomplish it.”
